Nate the Great

Nate the Great was slated to air on PBS but never quite got that far. The project fell through. The top clip is a clean version with no VFX. All the animation was drawn in flash by a different department then passed on to the After Effects department that I was supervising. The flash files were exported into a PNG sequence and composited with the VFX as seen on the bottom. This is only one example of the many VFX used in the 1st episode.

Wonder Pets! Save the Skunk

A Nick Jr Wonder Pets sequence where Ollie tries to rescue a frog that doesn't need help.

Composited and animated in After Effects.

Piper is Smiling!

Nick Jr's host Piper O'possum.

Animated and composited with After Effects.

Dream Screen 1999 "Santa Y2K"

Dream Screen Workshop is sponsored by Facets Multimedia in Chicago. It's a workshop for inner city children of Chicago ages 9-13 that teaches the process of animation from storyboarding to the final animation using cut out construction paper. They get hands on experience cutting out each element, constructing backgrounds and animating frame by frame with a video camera over head. They even did their own music! As excited as the children were to see what they just had made, it was also exciting for them to see it presented at the Chicago International Children's Festival in November 1999.

The theme that year was the millennium. My instructing partner and I brainstormed with the children and came up with the idea of what would happen to Santa if Y2K hit. This is what they came up with....
